Love Affair with The Capital

I have a love affair with a city. It’s hard to put in words, but bear with me, I’ll try.

My heart literally bursts every time my flight makes its way into the nation’s capital. Flying over the green fields on the campus of Georgetown University, all of the lights from stores lining K Street seem to sparkle.

There’s an obelisk in the distance. It’s grand and even if you can’t traverse it’s staircases (blame construction), the Washington Monument is still magical as you glide by.

Other thoughts while taking this picture from the plane: “Dang, I really need a 7.” Okay, back to the story…

On the ground, there’s magic in the streets too. Or at least, there’s enough panache to keep you intrigued as you wait for your Uber.

Like, who hand painted (I’m guessing here) the streets at 7th and H in Chinatown?

Between snapping photos, I kept trying to remember what year we’re in but, Google took forever to load so I moved on to the next, most obvious thought…

“What’s that number one zodiac sign????” Complete with dancing at the crosswalk.

It’s an Uncle Luke reference. If you don’t get it, look it up.

Speaking of music, is someone singing Rihanna “Work” as a love song?

Why yes, that is exactly what I hear! Perfect solution to our Uber driver failing at life. Wait music is always welcome.

There are so many other spectacular reasons to love Washington. Like this staircase at La Tasca! It’s not as fabulous as their sangria (I dare you to try one you don’t like) but it’s pretty close.

Until next time, DMV.

  • Hi would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a hard time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S Sorry for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
